Faculty of Human Development (FPM) was established on June 1, 2010, following the restructuring and rebranding of the faculty. It is the largest faculty at UPSI. Originally, FPM was known as the Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development. The faculty has existed since the founding of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in 1996. The core foundation of the university lies in the field of education, aimed at enhancing teaching and learning at all levels and across various disciplines.
There are five (5) departments under FPM, namely:
- Department of Educational Studies
- Department of Psychology
- Department of Special Education
- Department of Early Childhood Education
- Department of Guidance and Counselling
In line with UPSI’s focus on education, FPM serves as the “backbone” for all teacher education programs offered at the university. The faculty is also responsible for implementing lifelong learning programs and conducting research in areas such as pedagogy, curriculum, assessment, special education, as well as guidance and counselling. Additionally, FPM provides consultation services aimed at enhancing the capacity building of UPSI staff for greater excellence.
